Embedded Path Vs. Alpha Channels

Clipping Path techniques are used to hide or replace certain portions of the images. These Clipping Paths are created through two main methods: Embedded paths and Alpha Channels

Embedded Paths

Vector masks or outlines that have hard edges

These are separate objects with an image

Used in page layout applications

Supported by EPS images

Alpha Channels

Bitmap masks that have transparency

These have both opaque and transparent areas

Used in photo and video composition

Supported by TIFF images
